Writing summaries
Before we start working on summary writing, let's brainstorm some ideas about it:
I believe a summary is when you transform a text you consider to be big into a smaller, usually more straightforward one. It is a very good strategy for students in any moment of their academic lives because it helps you to store information and access its main points without having to read the entire text once again. As a student, I use it to save time in order to select the main points of a text and re-write it with my own words. I think a good summary should have a straight to the point structure, maintaining the main points of the text in a clear and objective manner.
I think that summary is a short text, when you write just essencial parts of original text. Summary is important because it can help you found information quickly.
For me, a summary can be defined as a combination of the principal ideas of a text. Usually it presents objective language, which makes it to be considered more functional. Besides, summaries are very important because they are practical and make the understanding of the text subject easier. About the characteristics, I think that the most important thing is to be shorter and more clear and objective than the text it cames from, in other words, it has to be concise.

Summary is a text about some subjective in a resumed way, so it is smaller. A summary can helps to get the principal ideas from a text and it is important to remind important things from a longer text.
As far as I`m concerned, a summary is a smaller version of an original text. The summary`s writer will have to read the original one and choose what to keep in his/her summary according to what they think is relevant. Another point is that it should be different from the original text, once it can be considered plagiarism if it is too similar. Something else I think about when concerning summaries is that they seem to be easier to understand as ideas are rewritten in a different way, and possibly, a simpler one. Relating to that, they are very important because they can be more accessible for people with less knowledge on the topic of the summary. I usually write them to facilitate my incorporation of some more complicated subjects. They really help me studying and memorizing many things, especially the ones that I can`t assimilate just by reading or listening.
A summary is a personal resume of the main ideas in a text. The relevance of the issue is to shorten too complex texts into clearer and smaller ones, or to give a broad view of the main ideas in a text to someone who wouldn’t have the time I had reading the lines. I would never use myself of summaries unless there is a great need like an exam I was not capable of studying to. I would be very pleased to write summaries, because I would help people like a translator would in transferring to one code to another palatable to my country mates. In applying myself to make one I would consider reading many times the same lines until getting the core of the question and putting that on my own words.
Summary is “a short story of a story”, that is, the main idea of an text synthesized in a smaller text. This kind of text is good to help someone that didn’t understand the idea that the text want to express. Hardly ever I write a summary in English, but I think that when I start study literatures, I will be tired of doing this.
